What is Greater>Than Clothing?

Greater>Than Clothing is a t-shirt company that celebrates excellent ideas through compelling design, and we want you to be a part of it.

Greater>Than Clothing is an idea-friendly company, and is committed to principles of community and inclusivity. We want to enable artists like you to do great work by providing an encouraging, collaborative environment, and by largely staying out of your way. In fact, for a design to be considered for inclusion, it simply must include the greater than symbol (>) somewhere in the design.

Rather than ask you to bend your design experience and taste into a preconceived idea of what Greater>Than designs should look like, we will use our brand to showcase the incredible variety of different solutions to the challenge you collectively create. If you have a design that you think is too “out there”, we definitely want to see it.

If your design is selected for production, you’ll get a share of the profits from that design, some free shirts for you and your friends, and the satisfaction of having your true vision put into the marketplace (not a watered-down, focus-grouped shadow of your idea). Plus, you (the artists) will be the stars of this site, which will feature interviews, links to your portfolio sites, etc. It is our goal to become the most designer-friendly t-shirt brand the world has ever known.

Who is Greater>Than Clothing?

Well, there’s me, Joey. I founded this company for four major reasons:

1. I thought there might be some other people out there who would be interested in a different take on the t-shirt.
2. I needed a creative outlet
3. I wanted to see if I could create a profitable company without compromising my values
4. I couldn’t get the idea out of my head

And there’s Ryan, our talented jack-of-all-trades production master.

And, most importantly, there’s you, our community. The success of Greater>Than will depend on continuing contributions from people like you. I’ve already been incredibly impressed with the great ideas that have come out of discussions we have had with our friends, families, and anyone else who would spare us the time. Thank you for your help and enthusiasm so far!

The blog portion of this site will chronicle the evolution of the company as we try to develop the idea into reality. We promise to share our mistakes as well as our triumphs. The blog will also serve as a way for the community to keep us accountable to our principles, so please don’t be shy about letting us know if you disagree with moves we make.
